Marathon Kids is a free, nonprofit, and evidence-based program that encourages children to become more active by challenging them to run, jog, walk, or move the equivalent of four marathons over a season. Using a digital platform and mobile app called Marathon Kids Connect, participants and their coaches track miles and progress towards goals, fostering motivation and a positive attitude toward physical activity. The program aims to build healthy habits, improve physical and mental well-being, and cultivate grit and determination in young participants.
 

Key Aspects of Marathon Kids

  • Distance Goal:

The core challenge is to complete the distance of four marathons (approximately 104.8 miles) over the program's duration. 

  • Digital Tracking:

Kids use the Marathon Kids Connect platform to log their activity and monitor their progress toward their marathon goals. 

  • Motivation & Rewards:

The program provides motivation through goal setting, tracking, celebrating milestones, and offering small rewards.

Coaches (like teachers and community leaders) guide participants, and the program fosters a sense of community.
