Principal Johnson: The Heart of THE Piney Point Elementary School, A Legacy Renewed

Piney Point Elementary is shining brighter than ever thanks to the outstanding leadership of our principal, Ms. Hernita Johnson. 

With her vision, dedication, and tireless commitment, Principal Johnson brought together a talented team of painters and artists to refresh and beautify our beloved school with our proud school colors and a magnificent mural featuring our mascot and new school motto.

One of the most meaningful highlights of this transformation is that the mural design is based on the original school logo created over 25 years ago by our art teacher, Mr. Huerta—a timeless emblem that continues to represent our school’s creativity, pride, and tradition. 

He shared, “I am very humbled and grateful to Principal Johnson for her leadership, hard work, transparency, and for honoring both our school’s tradition and its renewed campus and spirit.”

This inspiring project has been warmly welcomed by our entire Piney Point community—teachers, staff, faculty, and parents alike—who are thrilled to see the school radiating with color, energy, and renewed spirit. The hallways now reflect not only our Panther pride but also the unity and heart of everyone who calls Piney Point home.

Adding to this wave of creativity and engagement, Piney Point has launched new and renewed clubs that are sparking excitement across campus, including Art, Golf, Soccer, and Basketball Clubs. Students are exploring new skills, teamwork, and leadership through these enriching programs.

Beyond the many everyday success stories happening in our classrooms, families are connecting and celebrating together through unforgettable events like Science Night for Families and special activities with parents and grandparents. These moments highlight the strong partnerships and Panther pride that make our school community truly exceptional. And with many more exciting initiatives on the horizon, our Panthers have so much to look forward to this year!

Thanks to Principal Johnson’s visionary leadership, our school feels renovated, reborn, and ready for new chapters of undeniable success.
